OASIS iTrack - Real Time Shipment Tracking

What it solves

What it does

What you need

Enable 'real time shipment tracking' of your OASIS system from any computer which has access to the internet from a browser. It is a perfect solution to allow:

  • Your clients, shippers, consignees, agents to access latest shipping activity residing on your OASIS server without modem or long distance charges.
    • If you would like to explore how to connect, multiple site operations centralizing data collection in one location\headquarter office, yet allowing multiple remote offices to access OASIS over the internet and manipulating their shipments remotely, see => eOASIS.

OASIS iTrack

  1. Universal Internet access to data & applications -- Server-based, full-featured applications that execute over the Web.
  2. Economical network traffic supports a universal thin client -- the middle layer requires Windows NT or Windows 95/98/2000 -- MGI, Inc. applications will run within any Java-enabled browser, therefore allowing end-users (your clients, consignee's, agents or even your satellite offices) to run on Unix, Macintosh, OS2 and Windows to access the application. Other current solutions often involve huge runtimes -- that must be downloaded, installed and stored on the client.

OASIS iTrack

An Internet Enabled version of OASIS & an Application Broker.

OASIS iTrack

  • OASIS iTrack
  • Economical application deployment:

Application Broker

  • The Application Broker is a specialized Web server designed to run the OASIS iTrack applications. It can run alone or with any other Web server.
  • It comes complete with Java Support class libraries.
    • Organizes message traffic into a remote computing session.
    • It routes events produced by the Java Support Library to OASIS and routes HTML scripts produced by the application to the browser.
  • The Application Broker must be installed on every Internet server that launches the
    • Utilizing open standards, the Application Broker sends the application content, and the classes necessary to view it, to the client -- simultaneously.
  • The Application Broker creates a persistent connection on behalf of each user. Executable code is loaded only once, no matter how many concurrent users are logged in. Each new user requires only 100s of KB of RAM to run OASIS internet enabled applications, not megabytes -- providing excellent end-user performance, optimal resource utilization on the Web server and a significant reduction of overhead.
  • Robust, secure data management: The Application Broker provides fast, efficient handling of simultaneous browser connections. It works within firewall security, allowing secure access to data.

What you need

  • You office should be connected to the Internet via a dedicated ISDN \ DSL line, available from your local phone company. This would allow 24 hour access to your systems data from any time zone.
  • You also need the services of an ISP "Internet Service Provided". You don't need a web site, but in our opinion you should. We can create one for you [link to MGI web design services] or if you already have one, a button called [LINKS] or [CARGO TRACKING] should be created. This button needs to have a hyperlink, pointing to a "static" IP address on your companies network, where we would install the Application Broker.
  • You also need an Internet Server such as WebSite by O'Reilley or Microsoft's IIS which comes bundled with NT.
  • We license & provide you a copy of iTrack and an ‘Applications Broker’ to your company which we install on your companies WWW Server. This enables access to the clients shipments within your network.
  • We also map the drive letter T: on your server to your existing OASIS data directory in order to enable data access.
  • Your clients would hook up to you via the Internet (from Shanghai, China or Oshkosh, Wisconsin - no Long Distance charges) and connect to your system in order to track their shipments. Your employees continue processing shipments, cutting documents, managing traffic etc.

Once installed, your customers can keep tabs on the flow of their logistical information flow within your organization. With MGI, Inc.'s -

  • Booking Number
  • P.O. Number
  • AWB Number
  • B/L Number
  • Domestic Airfreight Number
  • Inbound De-Consolidation Number
  • Warehouse Receipt Number

Shipment information is displayed on their browser screen. Since no sensitive data such as Shipper or Consignee names are displayed, it does not compromise vital company information. Reports may be printed at their site.
