Important information regarding HURRICANE KATRINA.

September 9, 2005 - As you are no doubt aware, South East Louisiana, the Mississippi Gulf Coast and parts of Alabama suffered tremendous loss due to Hurricane Katrina. The loss of human life, personal & business property is incalculable. Thousands of heartbreaking stories have been recounted on International & National broadcasting services.

Even though we lost "things" we have our families (including pets) our people,  have our data, and the BEST friends and clients one could hope for! After the aftermath of the destruction we had countless offers for office space and lodging. We where offered four bedroom condos in the Florida Keys, a 36' Yacht in Miami Harbor, Office space in Miami, Atlanta, Houston, San Francisco, Los Angeles. From Boston to San Diego and from Seattle to Miami the offers of support, encouragement and what I can only describe as compassionate love came  pouring in. These acts of kindness will never be forgotten as what many of us are going through is a life changing experience.

Melco Group International, Inc. offices suffered only what can be termed "Catastrophic" damage. Even though our 1,100 sq.ft offices where located on the 2nd story of our building not much can be saved when the greater parts of a roof structure either collapse or are torn apart allowing estimated winds in excess of between 125 - 150 mph, rain and other structural debris (roof shingles, wet insulation) to fall on office equipment & furnishings.

  • We lost (4) Four servers including our SQL server handling our OasisWeb transaction terminals and our web servers hosting corporate & client sites.
  • (5) offices including all desks, furnishings, AT&T Merlin 10 phone system.
  • All communications equipment, modem pools, Copper Mountain DSL routers and 100 megabit switches.
  • (8) workstations including our network duplex printers, dot matrix & LASER Color printers.
  • All the office supplies required to run a modern office.

Luckily, we have always been prepared in two meaningful ways:

  • We have always made a full  Backup to our 160gig SimpleTech Removable External HDD
  • Every Friday, vital company information including all accounting records, source codes and other critical company information has been transferred via TCPIP to a secondary wireless network located at my home.

Currently we are busy establishing our network connections and transferring data in order to allow call management and service calls to be handled as smoothly as possible. We have acquired a 3,000 gigabyte capacity server which is co-located in a secure facility with it's own emergency power generators in order to avoid any catastrophe short of nuclear war God forbid.

We have also established a Nationwide, toll free number with bi-lingual operators which can take calls 24/7, details of which are routed via email and transferred to appropriate personnel.

Kindest regards,
Melco Group Intl., Inc.
